Debra Hansen, LEED AP BD&C

Deb Hansen is an Architectural Designer with Davis Design in Lincoln and LEED Accredited Professional with a specialty designation in Building Design and Construction. Deb has completed LEED certification on both new building construction (NC) and existing buildings (EB).

Her background contains experience in the fine arts, education, agriculture, business, construction and community development. In 1984, Deb initiated the private development and construction of five townhomes in rural Nebraska. In 1988, she was selected to participate in the Nebraska LEAD VIII Program (Leadership Education Action & Development). She co-chaired S.T.A.R.T. (Strategic Training and Resource Targeting), a rural revitalization program in Superior, Nebraska, from 1990-1993 and was a founding board member of the Trailblazers Resource Conservation & Development District.

In 1994, Deb was appointed by Governor Ben Nelson and served five years on the Nebraska Ethanol Board. The same year, Deb was hired as Project Director by the non-profit Superior Community Corporation to complete the $1.4 million Vestey Center project, an historic hotel renovation/reuse.

While acting as a managing partner of their family farm in south central Nebraska, Deb supervised the construction of a rural bank and worked as a community grantwriter/administrator acquiring funds for tourism, city street, storm sewers, and park improvements, tennis court and track field construction, trails project, pond restoration, tree planting, flood mitigation planning, infrastructure planning, bank stabilization, tree clearance, drainage improvements, emergency preparedness, historical preservation planning, small business development and housing rehabilitation.

Deb was a Research Assistant for two years for the Joslyn Institute for Sustainable Communities while completing her Master of Architecture degree from UNL. Her commitment to the promotion and incorporation of sustainable design in the architectural profession is rooted in her agricultural background. Deb is currently serving on the Mayor's Environmental Task Force in Lincoln.
